Lower Sapey
Anglican: St Bartholomew Old Church. (Churches Conservation Trust)
St Bartholomew’s lies in a remote and secluded position at the end of a long lane to the west of Clifton on Teme. It is an almost unaltered Norman church, some windows were added in the 14th and 19th centuries. Allowed to become derelict it was replaced by a new church, with the same dedication, in Harpley in 1877. The old building was used as a farm barn until it was “rescued” by local fundraising and restored in the 1970’s. It is now vested in the Churches Conservation Trust.
St Bartholomew’s is open daily, see Churches Conservation Trust website for details.
