Annual Sponsored Bike Ride The Annual Sponsored Bike Ride is a National event - every second Saturday in September cyclists (and pedestrians, riders and motorists) all round the country are out making money for their local County Churches Trust. This is the main source of income for the Trust and enables it to make grants to churches in need. The ride is inter-denominational and cyclists are invited to seek sponsors who will undertake to pay an agreed sum of money for each place of worship visited by the cyclist between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on the Bike Ride Day. If cycling doesn't appeal to you, other forms of transport are equally acceptable for sponsorship - for example; walkers, horse riders, and those using public transport can also join in. The money raised by each participant is shared equally between the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust and the place of worship nominated by the cyclist. As important as the cyclists, are the many volunteers who give up the day to man the churches and chapels and sign in the cyclists as they arrive. Last year many places of worship were manned during the day and we hope that even more will take up the challenge this year. It is a real community effort that is the lifeblood of the trust. This year, the event will take place on Saturday 8th September. Please get out and help raise much needed funds to carry forward the work of the Trust. In the eighteen years since the churches in the county have been involved, more than 200 have received grants for building repairs or fabric improvement.
