Cropthorne
Anglican: St Michael
The Nave Arcades are Norman from the mid 12th century, the original aisles were replaced in the 13th century. There is additional work from several later periods and there was a restoration in 1894. Displayed in the north aisle is an Anglo-Saxon cross dating from the 9th century. Grade I listed, St Michael’s features in Betjeman’s Best British Churches, 2011. It is usually open during daylight hours. (Ref Parish Website, April 2014.)
